6 Beauty Tips to Nail that Job Interview and Professional Head Shot
As if there isn’t enough to worry about when preparing for that killer dream job interview! Prior to MintPear Beauty, I was a sales manager for a large corporation. During this time I had the opportunity to interview countless candidates. Here are some quick tips to help you focus on the important stuff; how amazing YOU are!
Tip 1: Put Your Best Face Forward
The night before your interview, use an exfoliator or a washcloth and warm water to gently exfoliate your face in small circular motions. This will help remove any dry dead skin cells allowing your skin to look fresh and have that gorgeous radiant glow. Follow with a trusted moisturizer (no product experimenting the day before the interview).
Tip 2: Get Dem zzz’s Girl
Make sure you get plenty of sleep, drink plenty of water and definitely avoid salty foods and alcohol the night before. This will not only help you be as sharp as a tack during your interview, it will also prevent those dark circles or puffy red sleep-deprived looking eyes.
Tip 3: Makeup
Keep the makeup to a minimum and natural as possible. Less is more when you are going for the “professional” look. To achieve the perfect flawless amount of coverage we recommend using the MintPear Flat Top Kabuki to apply your foundation or powder. Stick to natural color tones for your eye shadows, blush and lipsticks. This isn’t date night or the club! Definitely don’t be afraid to let your personality shine through, however, be mindful to not over do it as this will be a distraction from your already gorgeous face!
Tip 4: Smile
Breathe girl - you got this. Research shows smiling actually releases endorphins, which help fight off stress. Remember to smile (don’t even think about chewing gum). Keep in mind - they want to hire you! They are actually hoping you are the one. By remembering this it will take the edge and pressure off.
TIP 5: Accessories
“Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory” – Cocoa Chanel
I live by this advice myself and highly recommend if you are going to wear jewelry keep it to 1 or 2 pieces max. Please do not show up with a ring on every finger, earrings, necklace and a bracelet. I absolutely love jewelry, but remember this is an interview and again, less is more.
TIP 6: Law of Attraction
Believe that you already have the job before you even walk through the door. Confidence is the most gorgeous accessory you could ever wear. So wear it proudly! No matter what the outcome, feel good knowing you did your best!
