Stop Being So Freakin’ Lazy!

This article is real, no filters, no editing and most importantly no photo-shop. I’ve included a photograph(above) of what I actually “really” look like at this moment while I’m writing this for you today, because it is time to get real and cut-out the b.s.

Get your act together with these 7 Must Do steps every night before bed.

I know I’m not alone when I say I could definitely benefit from a few more zzz’s every night, but sometimes life happens fast, careers take over, children wake before sunrise and you deal with it. However, there came a point this year where I didn’t even recognize myself in the mirror. I felt as though I was putting myself not even on the “back burner” I was the pot in the sink from the night before, and I needed to make a change. Of course this was after an obvious rough day with no “wins” and accompanied by an uncontrollable fit of self-loathing tears.
I sat down and made a list of all of the things I felt I had stopped doing once I began to run my own business and after having my son this year. It’s interesting the glamorous picture that is painted on Instagram and other social media platforms around the idea of being a #GirlBoss or #BossLady. All you see are strategically placed coffee mugs with red lipstick stains perfectly positioned next to a bouquet of hand selected peonies from the local market and a neatly organized (white, black and gold color themed) work space. When in reality, this picture is so far from the every day truth of running your own business, especially when you have little tigers running around. Some days are filled with “wins” and are great, don’t get me wrong, and there’s no way I would change being my own “boss”, but it’s definitely not a smooth ride. It takes discipline, determination, faith, and I’m recently convinced even a little insanity to be an entrepreneur.
In addition to being the Co Founder and CEO of MintPear Beauty Products, I am a wife, mother of 2(my 1 year old and my husband) which all of you mothers understand. Though I would never discredit my husband in any way because he is still my prince charming of 8 years and my main support system, whom I admire and works even harder than I could imagine. But my OCD mixed with his ADHD makes for a busy day filled with constant distractions.
Let’s get to my point, everyday is a new day with new challenges and the only way I have found to manage my stress and not completely lose my mind is by maintaining a few small routines every single day no matter how tired or exhausted I may be. This way at the end of the day I am able to cross off a small list of things that are important to me, and make me feel like I did “something” for myself.
The best advice I can give you, is make time for you. You will be able to love more, live more be more productive and hold less resentment if you do.
Here’s my list of 7 things I MUST DO every night, I want to share them with you in hopes that you will find serenity as well. Add/edit or replace any of these steps to accommodate your own needs, the point is to do these things every night for  yourself. I challenge you to try it for one week. If you forget one night, don’t give up, just try again the next night.
I want to hear how it improved your life, mood, out look on life, confidence and relationships. Let’s be real, honest and empowering together. This is your life. If you don’t take care of you, no one will.
1. Brush your hair into a loose braid or bun.
2. Wash off the day's makeup.
3. Use a night cream.
4. Use an eye cream.
5. Brush & floss your teeth.
6. Write down your 5 "wins" for the day.
7. Wear your retainer to sleep.

With all my love,

Hi @Heidi VL,

Thank you so much for checking out my blog and leaving your feedback. It’s very true – we have to encourage “realness” in this industry, and I’m happy to say “I’m not perfect, but I do try perfectly.” :) Please let me know if you’d like to see anything in particular on the blog. I love personalizing my posts by request. It’s great to have another esthetician in the MintPear Community!

Thanks for keeping it real!!! Social media gives all of us the impression that everybody else’s life is perfect and what’s wrong with me! You’re doing a fabulous job Rita!!! ❤️
